FLEMINGTON, NJ – The Flemington Borough Police Department thanked Dr. César DePaco, of Summit Nutritionals, for his donation of a new K9 for the Flemington Police K9 Unit.
Ptl. Greg Zytko and his new partner, K9 Elza, will be starting the Union County K9 Academy this month.
Elza is a year-and-a-half-old German Shepherd from Slovakia, who will begin her career as an explosive detection K9 and a patrol-certified K9.
The training will take about five months before she is certified and on patrol.
According to the department, DePaco donated $11,500 for a K9 in response to the retirement of K9 Jax, Flemington’s first K9 who has served for the past nine years.
Without DePaco’s assistance, the department would be at a disadvantage, officers said.
“With his support, we now have no delays in providing safety and services for the Borough of Flemington,” the department said.
